The Human Experience-Never Give Up

Have you ever felt like if you manage to make the “right” decisions, find your purpose, find that one person, find your community, your tribe, have enough money for travel, to have time off doing what you love then life will just be amazing and I’ll have no problems and you’ll be happy?

Is this a human condition or a societal issue where it is put on us? Have we loss all sense of reality living here on earth? Living in this believe there becomes an enormous amount of chasing, figuring out, staying up late worrying, because there’s so much control that we need to have but, all the control in the world doesn’t make all things go our way. That can leave us feeling so exhausted and feelings of defeat.

I believe and have found out personally that there is a fair amount of work on my end, decision making of course, I mean after all I have a Brain. But, the other part is trusting and letting go to something bigger than myself to work it out and often times it doesn’t get worked out how we want. And that’s life. So what do we do?

Where am I going with this? Well, I’m constantly being reminded even after all these decades of being on this spiritual path that it’s an illusion. Whats an illusion? That if I do everything right, make all the right decisions, be patient, trust, surrender, do better, that all will work out and and that life will just flow and I’ll have the life I want in how I want and see it to be, and that I have arrived and am happy and always happy.

Why did some of the most gifted, most powerful individuals in this life, in our life time who touched us and still touch us so deeply struggled too when it seemed they had it all?

Like Curt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix, Ian, Curtis, Sinead O’Conner, Elliott Smith, Bobby Brown, Whitney Houston, Justin Bieber, Marilyn Monroe, Janis Joplin, Demi Lovato, Lady Gaga, Brian Wilson, Micheal Jackson Mac Miller, Jelly Roll, Eminem, Kim Morrison, Selena Gomez and even Elvis on a documentary was shared how very lonely he had feels and struggled. And I know there’s so many more truly gifted people who moved us and still move us with their spirit, their heart, their talent, their brilliance their vulnerability. Their light shines out and they so authentically share everything they have from within to us all. And it may seem from the outside they had it all and they did they were famous, had purpose, made a lot of right decisions, so many people loved them, wanted to be them. They moved people. And yet they too struggled. Because maybe it’s because we are human living a human experience. No matter what we achieve, share our purpose, love, do right, we will still face challenges from within and the outside. This is to be alive.

Learning equanimity is essential, where we can have pain, doubt and still have faith, courage, strength to keep going everyday, and peace, contentment within us even when scared and have made mistakes and are unaware what will happen next. We can experience all of these emotions at the same time. It’s not black or white.

This inner fight to give it all we got from within to fight for life no matter what comes our way. And to not pretend we are always fine. It’s okay to not be okay. And to me admitting that is strength. The acknowledgment of the real reality of life and what you’re experiencing. And yet, you keep living, you keep going, you keep fighting, you keep believing even with all the problems thrown your way. You don’t give up.

I will take this moment to pray for all people who are struggling and for all to know you’re not alone. And you do have the strength within to keep going. Baby steps sometimes is all it takes. And sometimes it’s enough to just get out of bed. You are enough. And to live is to experience the ups and yes the downs too. That is the experience here on earth. But the downs don’t have to define you or hold you back, it’s just part of your journey. The human journey.

I think the downs, those long seasons of pain, struggles can help us experience the smallest things in life in the most deeper, profound way. It can make us so grateful for the smallest, simplest things, noticing everything beautiful and enjoying everything so much more deeply.

I’m grateful for this. I see how everything I need like peace is within me and I can access that at anytime. If I slow down enough to access it.

Until next time, keep smiling.
