It’s Life, the human experience. The ups and the downs. A beautiful, kind hearted, gentle mentor of mine reminded me countless times. One cannot stay on top of the mountain forever, eventually you will come down. Such a great visual as an avid hiker. The ups and the downs is all part of life. I could go into all my reasons of why my search for peace and happiness and to always have excellent health, has always been such a huge thing for me. And perhaps it’s a human thing. But, I will say I still am accepting this reality of life.

What has helped me is learning how to fight through things is with gratitude. And holding tight to the believe that no matter what happens I will come out of this somehow, someway. Sometimes the circumstances don’t change but, I change from within. And that’s even more important to me. My daily gratitude list has been so helpful and I also integrate my structured practices into my daily life. Always embodying what I’m learning, my beliefs and my values. Not just think things or say I’m this, I’m that and leave it there but, actually live it: that’s the only way anything can change.
Anytime I practice helpful, powerful tools during the down seasons I am also building resilience. I’m also changing my character from victim, Martyr, negative Nelly. I never have wanted to be any of those. But, of course as a human I can see these rear its head at times and think oh no, I’m not going there. I’m up for the dark night of the soul. I’m strong, I can do it. Because my desire has always been I never want to stay stuck. I’ve always wanted to heal, break generational trauma. And LIVE! But, it hasn’t been easy in the downs. But, I will say each time I get stronger and the next time when I’m in it, how I think, respond is more automatic of my new way of being rather then my old way of being.
I think there is a different energy – tone to I’m not okay right now but, I’m okay that I’m not fully okay. Meaning I’m not just struggling. I also have hope, believe I will get through this. I can even laugh and have joy alongside of not fully being okay. I can take back my power and have resilience to fight and not give in at anytime.
I think that is the difference. We all know people who are negative, complain, but they don’t take any action at all to change. Again, knowing that sometimes our outer circumstances can’t and won’t change. But, our inner environment can change. We can see the good, the positive, the beauty in life. There’s endless supply of that every single day. A sunrise, a sunset, flowers, music, laughing and connecting with loved ones, reading a yummy book where you’re completely transported to somewhere else. One can have and experiences that adventure through reading a story if one cannot physically do it for some reason.
Again, I’m not saying this is easy. But, it is a CHOICE!
Life can be so so much fuller, brighter, beautiful, amazing when we live like this. And when we do here comes the endless supply of peace, joy and contentment.
I personally think and see with working with my clients tending to our inner environment is the root to a fulfilling, meaningful, joyful, peaceful life. All the external change, all the money in the world won’t bring those powerful states of being. Sometimes temporarily, yes.
It just takes baby steps each day. When you’re struggling and want to focus on all that’s not working, or your emotional and or physical constant pain state is present and is talking to you. Notice it, acknowledge it and then intercept it, direct your thoughts on the things that are going right. Feel your breath. Bring forth the blessings you do have. Sometimes we have to dig really deep, and sometimes it’s – I’m alive and I was gifted this life.
There are so many other ways to process emotional and physical pain, and how to have acceptance, and I want to share and write about this, more of this to come.
So, until next time, keep smiling.
Love, Lisa
